ECHO
ECHO is a luminous audio work, questioning the auditory phenomenon of echo and the visual phenomenon of mirror image.
In Greek mythology, these two phenomena are tragically linked. When the nymph of the mountains, Echo, was eternally cursed (she could only repeat the words that were addressed to her by others), she fell in love with the handsome young man Narcisse. But he ends up falling in love with his own reflection without ever being able to catch his own image and fades away. Although she did not forgive Narcisse, the nymph Echo suffered with him.
Echo seems never to be caught. The spectator sees what is playing before him: an infinite play of lights, of colours going back and forth, tragic fate imprisoned in the angular and rotating forms of the work. The light driven by an audio-visual creation of Julien Menzel and Dominique Gauriaud, perfectly materialize these movements, themselves caught in mirrors creating a contemplative and desperate beauty.
